Samhain Day Retreat
A day of rest, remembrance, reconnection & renewal
Each October, as the seasons begin to turn and the evenings draw in, we gather together in the yurt to honour Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the darker half of the year.
Traditionally, Samhain was seen as a time when the veil between this world and the spirit world was at its thinnest. It offered an opportunity to pause, reflect and remember our ancestors, those who still walk beside us and those who have passed through the veil before us.
For me, this retreat is about honouring the people who came before us, the lives they lived, the lessons they carried and the paths they carved that ultimately helped lead us to where we are today.
It is a beautiful gathering of remembrance, but also one of rest.
A chance to step away from the noise and demands of everyday life, soften into yourself and leave feeling lighter, refreshed and perhaps flooded with loving memories of the people who have shaped your life.
This day is about undoing, unraveling and resting.
In a world that asks so much of us, days like these can feel worth their weight in gold.
Cacao Ceremony
We begin our morning gathered together in ceremony with a beautiful cup of ceremonial-grade cacao.
Cacao has long been described as a heart-opening plant medicine and is often referred to as a heart-healing elixir.
We generally work with cacao sourced from Guatemala. Each cup is prepared with intention before we settle into the warmth of the yurt.
You will be invited to lie back, listen to music and simply receive, allowing the body to soften, the mind to quieten and the heart to gently open.
There is nothing to achieve.
Nothing to perform.
Just time to be.
Nourishment
Following our cacao ceremony, a light snack will be prepared and served by our chef for the day.
We then return to the yurt for gentle, mindful movement, helping the body to integrate the cacao experience and create space physically, mentally and energetically.
Yoga means union, and that experience of union will look different for every person who joins us.
Our practice works with the mind, body and spirit, inviting a deeper sense of harmony and spaciousness within.
You do not need to be experienced in yoga to attend.
Complete beginners are warmly welcomed, and the practice will always be modified to meet the needs of those in the room on the day.
Lunch & Time to Connect
After yoga, we make our way back up towards the house at Roney Point, where a nourishing, nutrient-dense lunch will be waiting.
There is time here to slow down.
Walk through the garden.
Sit quietly.
Chat with an old friend or perhaps make a new one.
One of the most beautiful things about these retreats is the community they create. The people who find their way here tend to share a similar desire, to slow down, reconnect and live with a little more intention.
Sound Bath with Audrey
After lunch, we return to the yurt for a deeply restorative sound bath created by Audrey, who co-hosts this special retreat alongside Liz.
You will once again be invited to lie down, get comfortable and simply receive.
Different instruments create layers of sound, tone and vibration that move throughout the yurt, surrounding the body in beautiful frequencies.
As each instrument is played, the sounds wash through the space, creating a deeply immersive experience that can help the nervous system settle and encourage profound relaxation and restoration.
There is nowhere else you need to be.
Wood-Fired Sauna
To close our day, the wood-fired sauna will be waiting.
You are welcome to sit back in the warmth, breathe deeply and allow the final layers of the day to settle.
A beautiful way to finish our Samhain gathering , warm, grounded and connected to the elements around us.
A Day to Honour What Came Before
Samhain reminds us that life moves in cycles.
There are seasons for growth, seasons for letting go and seasons where we are simply asked to become still.
It is also a beautiful opportunity to remember that none of us arrives here alone.
We carry stories, traditions, strengths and memories from the generations before us.
This retreat is a gentle invitation to honour those connections, not from a place of sadness, but from gratitude.
To remember.
To reflect.
To rest.
And perhaps to leave carrying a little more appreciation for those who once carved the path ahead of us.
